Unfortunately, the series stalled out with the poorly-received Dino Crisis 3, which did nothing to advance the plot beyond DC2's legendary cliffhanger ending. Dino Crisis 2 moved the needle long before Resident Evil 4, and Devil May Crysimilarly abandoned horror in favor of wall-to-wall action. For better and worse, the horror title was dubbed, ' Resident Evil with Dinosaurs.' In 2000, Dino Crisis 2 leaned away from the series' survival horror roots and delivered a non-stop action extravaganza with upgradable weapons and a combo-based currency system. The first Dino Crisis game released in 1999 and was inspired by a mix of Resident Evil and Jurassic Park. Now that the iron's hot, so to speak, fans are hoping that Dino Crisis, one of Capcom's beloved forgotten franchises, might see a return via either a remake or a full-on sequel.

From the return of Mega Man in recent legacy collections and Mega Man 11 (still waiting on Mega Man Legends 3, though) to the enormously successful Resident Evil remakes, it's clear that for Capcom, what was old is new again. Publisher Capcom has been on something of a retro kick lately. While the world eagerly awaits news of some sort of Dino Crisis revival from Capcom, a modder has found a way to incorporate dinosaur horror into the recently-released Resident Evil 3.
